Francesco De Seta's vision: from vegetable garden to royal garden The history of Villa Margherita begins with an act of urban courage: the decision of Mayor Francesco De Seta to transform a steep terrain used as a vegetable garden and vineyard into what would become the city's green living room. This visionary choice, typical of the post-unitary era when Italian cities aspired to equip themselves with public spaces worthy of European capitals, demonstrates the foresight of an administration that believed in the value of beauty as a factor in civil development. The project represented a significant technical challenge: transforming a rugged and productive terrain into a public garden required specific expertise in hydraulic engineering, landscape architecture, and decorative art. Entrusting the work to the Andreotti brothers and architect Feher ensured a result of the highest quality.
